One of the most popular falls in the Northeast, featuring three distinct sections of water flowing over fern-covered rocks.
What To Expect?
A paved pathway with stairs that takes you to all three levels of the fall. The first level is wide and tucked behind trees, the second is thin, and the third is the most impressive, plunging into a clear pool. The surrounding vegetation is lush and vibrant.

Exploring Elephant Falls
Historical Name
The British named it Elephant Falls because of a rock near the falls that resembled an elephant. Though the rock was destroyed in an earthquake in 1897, the name persisted.
The Khasi name for the falls is 'Ka Kshaid Lai Pateng Khohsiew', which translates to 'Three Steps Waterfall'.
