More About Zanskar Valley
Situated at an altitude of nearly 19,700 feet (highest peaks), the Zanskar Valley is one of the most remote and ethereal regions in Ladakh. This semi-desert area is famous for its wide-open valleys, sparkling glaciers like Drang-Drung, and the gushing Zanskar River which offers some of the most challenging rafting rapids in the world.
The valley is home to a unique form of Tibetan Buddhism, preserved through centuries in isolated monasteries like Karsha and Phugtal. A journey to Zanskar is an expedition back in time, where you can see traditional farming, nomadic herders, and a way of life that remains largely unaffected by modern commercialization.
