Built in 1820 by King Tsepal Namgyal, the Stok Palace serves as the current summer residence of the royal family of Ladakh. The museum is housed within the residential compound and offers a rare peek into the fascinating history and lifestyle of the Namgyal dynasty.
The museum is a treasure trove of Ladakhi heritage, displaying royal ceremonial dresses, ancient coins, jewelry, and weaponry. The palace is smaller than the Leh Palace but much better preserved, providing an intimate look at the transition of the Ladakhi monarchy through the centuries.
