Overview
The first national park in Kerala, famous for its endangered mountain goat, the Nilgiri Tahr, and the rare Neelakurinji flowers that bloom once in 12 years.
What To Expect?
A bus ride provided by the forest department takes you to the Rajamala hills. From there, a short trek reveals breathtaking views of Anamudi (South India's highest peak) and sightings of the friendly Nilgiri Tahr goats along the slopes.

- Wear comfortable walking shoes as there is a bit of an uphill walk from the bus drop-off point.
- The park closes for about 45-60 days in early spring (Feb-Mar) for the Tahr's breeding season.

Wildlife & Flora
The park is managed by the Kerala Forest Department. It is home to the largest surviving population of Nilgiri Tahr. The terrain is a mix of high-altitude grasslands and shola forests.
If you are lucky enough to visit during the Neelakurinji bloom (next expected in 2030), the entire mountain turns into a purple carpet of flowers.
How to reach Eravikulam National Park
Located 15 km from Munnar town. You can take a taxi or auto-rickshaw to the entrance gate at Rajamala.
