Overview
A community-led hatchery dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles by hatching eggs and releasing them safely into the ocean.
What To Expect?
You will see large tanks containing various species of sea turtles (Green, Hawksbill, Leatherback). The volunteers explain the lifecycle and the dangers turtles face. If you visit in the evening, you might even witness a release of hatchlings into the sea.

Conservation Effort
Kosgoda is the most famous turtle nesting site in Sri Lanka. The project pays local fishermen for eggs they find, preventing them from being sold for food, and ensures they hatch safely.
The center also rehabilitates turtles that have been injured by fishing nets or boat propellers.
