Housed in the former Sultan's Palace in Sultan Park, the National Museum of Maldives showcases a rich collection of artifacts, including royal relics, stone carvings from the pre-Islamic era, and traditional Maldivian lacquerware.

Step inside a modest three-story building to find yourself face-to-face with centuries of Maldivian history. You'll encounter pre-Islamic coral stone sculptures with Buddhist and Hindu influences, ornate royal thrones, ceremonial dress, and the massive 6-meter-long skeleton of a rare Longman's Beaked Whale.
