A sprawling 110 sq. km forest area home to rare Himalayan species like the Ghoral, Sambhar, and the Himalayan Black Bear.
What To Expect?
Dense thickets of oak and pine trees. It's one of the few sanctuaries in India where you can walk on designated trails rather than being restricted to a jeep. It is a quiet, meditative space perfect for birdwatching. You might spot barking deer or kaleidoscopic Himalayan pheasants near dawn.

Exploring Chail Wildlife Sanctuary
The Golden Oak Trail
The sanctuary was formerly the royal hunting reserve of the Maharaja. It was declared a protected area in 1976.
It is famous for the 'Kijjal' (Golden Oak) trees and the massive rhododendrons that bloom in early spring.
