Manikarnika Ghatvaranasi
The Gateway to Salvation

Overview
The primary cremation ghat in Varanasi, where the eternal fire has reportedly been burning for thousands of years.
What To Expect?
An intense, humbling, and philosophical experience. You will see funeral pyres burning continuously. It is not a 'tourist spot' in the traditional sense, but a place for reflection on mortality. It is best viewed from a distance on a boat to respect the privacy of the grieving families.
Tips
- Never take photos.
- If approached by 'touts' asking for donations for firewood, politely decline and move on.
Exploring Manikarnika Ghat
The Eternal Fire
Legend says that Lord Shiva's earring fell into the well here (Manikarnika), and the ghat is considered the 'Maha Smashana' where death is a celebration of freedom from the cycle of birth.
There is a small temple nearby that is partially submerged and tilted, creating a striking visual against the river.
How to reach Manikarnika Ghat
Accessible only by foot through narrow lanes or by boat.
