Two main pedestrian trekking routes up the Seven Hills, offering a scenic and meditative climb to reach the Lord.
What To Expect?
A physically challenging yet spiritually rewarding climb. Alipiri is the longer route (3,550 steps, ~9km) through forest areas with shops and rest points. Srivari Mettu is shorter (2,100 steps, ~2km) but steeper. You'll pass several small shrines and get spectacular views of the Tirupati valley.
Tips
- Walk without shoes if you follow local tradition, or wear light sneakers.
- Carry minimal water as there are filtered water stations every few hundred steps.
- Watch out for wild animals if climbing late at night.

Pilgrims who walk to Tirumala are traditionally rewarded with 'Divya Darshan' tokens, which provide a faster entry into the temple compared to the free general queue.
Alipiri has several large statues of monkeys (Hanuman) and lions, and is fully covered with roofs for protection from sun and rain.
