More About Brahma Temple
While the current structure dates to the 14th century, the original temple is believed to be 2,000 years old. Legend says that Brahma had to perform a yagna here, but his wife Savitri was late. He married a local girl Gayatri to complete the ritual, leading an angry Savitri to curse him that he would only be worshipped in Pushkar.
The temple is made of marble and stone slabs. It has a distinct red pinnacle (shikhara) and a hamsa (swan) motif, which is the vahana of Lord Brahma. It is a major pilgrimage site where thousands of devotees come to pay their respects to the creator of the universe.
