An ancient stone marvel believed to be built by the Pandavas and revived by Adi Shankaracharya, standing strong for over a thousand years.
What To Expect?
An atmosphere of intense spiritual energy. Inside the sanctum, you can touch the conical 'Swayambhu' lingam. In the evening, the temple is illuminated, and the echoing chants of the Aarti against the silent Himalayan peaks create a soul-stirring experience. The front hall features statues of the Pandavas and Draupadi.

Exploring Kedarnath Temple
History & Resilience
The temple is made of massive grey stone slabs. During the 2013 floods, a giant boulder (now worshipped as Bheem Shila) miraculously rolled down and stopped right behind the temple, diverting the water and saving the structure.
Legend says the Pandavas sought Shiva here to atone for the Kurukshetra war. Shiva took the form of a bull, and his hump is believed to be the conical lingam worshipped today.
How to reach Kedarnath Temple
Located in the Rudraprayag district. Reachable via a 16 km trek from Gaurikund or by helicopter from Phata, Guptkashi, or Sirsi.
