A small, crystal-clear glacial lake located at the foot of the Kedarnath peak, famous for its historic connection to Mahatma Gandhi.
What To Expect?
A relatively easy 3-km trek from the temple complex. You pass through a lush landscape with the Madhu Ganga waterfall en route. The lake offers a close-up view of the Chorabari glacier. Some of Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed here in 1948, hence the name Gandhi Sarovar.

The lake is fed by the Chorabari Bamak glacier. It is the source of the Mandakini river.
The 2013 floods were triggered by the bursting of the banks of this very lake, reminding visitors of the raw power of nature.
