The final resting place of the great 8th-century philosopher Adi Shankaracharya, who is credited with the revival of the Char Dham pilgrimage.

A newly renovated memorial located right behind the main temple. It features a majestic 12-foot tall statue of Adi Shankaracharya sitting in meditation. The area is peaceful and serves as a tribute to the sage who established the Advaita Vedanta school of philosophy.

Exploring Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi
Restoring the Heritage
The original samadhi was washed away in the 2013 floods. The new statue was carved from chlorite schist and inaugurated in 2021.
Adi Shankaracharya is said to have attained 'Moksha' (liberation) at this spot at the young age of 32.
