Overview
One of the oldest and most beautiful temples in Bhutan, built in the 7th century by the Tibetan Emperor Songtsen Gampo.
What To Expect?
A quiet, deeply spiritual courtyard with two orange trees that are said to bear fruit all year round. The architecture is ancient and rustic, with floors worn smooth by centuries of pilgrims. The main inner sanctum houses a 7th-century statue of Jowo Jamba (Maitreya Buddha).

Exploring Kyichu Lhakhang
One of 108 Temples
Legend says this was one of the 108 temples built by the Tibetan King in a single day to pin down an ogress that was obstructing the spread of Buddhism in the Himalayas.
The temple is a favorite among local elders who can be seen circumambulating the stupas spinning their prayer wheels.
