A Temporary Landmark?
Built by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 World's Fair, it was originally intended to be dismantled after 20 years. It was saved because it proved useful as a giant radio antenna.
The tower is repainted every seven years with 60 tons of paint to protect it from rust, using a custom shade known as 'Eiffel Tower Brown'.
