A 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in Central Java, famous for its 72 openwork stupas, each containing a statue of the Buddha.

A massive stone mandala. You climb through levels representing Buddhist cosmology: Kamadhatu (desire), Rupadhatu (forms), and Arupadhatu (formlessness). The sunrise view from the top, with the mist rising over the Kedu Plain and volcanoes in the distance, is considered one of the most beautiful sights in Asia.
