Overview
The largest of the three Mughal gardens in Srinagar, built by Emperor Jahangir for his wife Nur Jahan in 1619.

Exquisite terraced lawns, fountain pools, and rows of majestic Chinar trees. The garden architecture features a canal lined with polished stones that flows through the center of the pavilions.
Tips
- Visit during the late afternoon to see the fountains operational (usually on Sundays or holidays).
- Wear comfortable shoes as there is plenty of walking on stone paths.

Architectural Grandeur
The garden is divided into three terraces. The lower terrace was for the public (Diwan-e-Aam), the middle for the Emperor (Diwan-e-Khas), and the top for the royal ladies.
The Black Pavilion in the top terrace is surrounded by fountain jets and is considered a masterpiece of Mughal garden design.
How to reach Shalimar Bagh
Located about 15 km from the city center (Lal Chowk). You can reach by taxi or local bus along the Dal Lake shore.
