The Massive Stupa
Overview
Built in 1945, this stupa is surrounded by 108 prayer wheels and is one of the most important reliquaries in Sikkim.
What To Expect?
Devotees walking in a clockwise direction spinning the Mani Lhakhang (prayer wheels). The golden top of the stupa glitters in the sun. It is a very active spiritual site with many young lamas studying nearby.

The stupa was built by Trulshik Rinpoche, head of the Nyingma order. It is believed to drive away evil spirits that once haunted the site.
Nearby is the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, a museum dedicated to Tibetan history and culture.
