The Legacy of Tenzing
The institute was founded after the historic ascent of Mt. Everest by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary. Norgay's tomb is located within the institute premises.
The zoo is the only one in India specializing in Himalayan fauna like the Tibetan Wolf and Himalayan Salamander.
