Originally known as Hagan Valley or Hagoon, the destination came to be known by its present name after the shooting of the blockbuster 1983 movie 'Betaab'. It is situated at an altitude of 2400 meters and is located on the way to the famed pilgrimage site, Amarnath Temple.
The valley is not just a treat for nature lovers but also a delight for history buffs. It is believed to be a part of the ancient Silk Route connecting Kashmir with Ladakh and holds religious significance as a route taken during historic spiritual journeys.
The Lidder River flows through the valley with its bluish-green waters, complementing the emerald grasslands. It is home to many exotic species of birds, making it a paradise for bird watchers and wildlife photography enthusiasts.
