Chilkur Balaji Temple, popularly known as 'Visa Balaji Temple', is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara. It is located on the outskirts of Hyderabad near the Osman Sagar Lake. It is one of the few temples in India that does not accept any money, green channel, or special privileges for VIPs, treating every devotee equally.
The temple gained its 'Visa' reputation in the 1980s when a group of students who prayed here for their US visas were successful. Today, it attracts millions of pilgrims annually. The ritual usually involves making 11 circumambulations of the inner shrine while making a wish, and returning to perform 108 circumambulations once the wish is fulfilled.
