The Grand Garden Tomb
Overview
The first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent, commissioned by Humayun's first wife Bega Begum. Its symmetrical design and double dome served as the blueprint for the Taj Mahal.
What To Expect?
A serene experience walking through perfectly manicured Persian-style gardens. Marvel at the high arches, the white marble double-dome, and the intricate stone lattice (jali) work. You can explore the central burial chamber and the various graves of Mughal royalty scattered across the high platform, often called the 'Dormitory of the Mughals'.

More About Humayun's Tomb
Built in 1570, Humayun’s Tomb was designed by Persian architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyas. It was the first structure to use red sandstone at such a massive scale and introduced the high-arched alcoves and the double-dome technique to Indian architecture.
The tomb sits in the center of a large 30-acre garden divided into quadrants by water channels, representing the four rivers of Islamic Paradise. It was meticulously restored by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, bringing the water channels back to life after centuries of neglect.
