Set within the courtyard of the Jama Masjid, this ethereal white marble tomb is dedicated to the Sufi saint Salim Chishti. It is famous for its intricate jali (lattice) work.

Emperor Akbar built this tomb between 1571 and 1580 as a mark of respect for the saint who predicted the birth of his son, Jahangir. Originally built in red sandstone, it was later converted to white marble by Jahangir.
The tomb is a pilgrimage site for people of all faiths. The 'Jali' screens are world-famous for their geometric and floral patterns, carved so finely that they look like lace. It is customary to offer 'Chadar' (sacred cloth) and flowers at the shrine.
