The Iron Fort

Overview
A massive hilltop fort at an altitude of 1,033 meters, known for its invincible walls and its strategic role during the Maratha Empire.
What To Expect?
An easy-to-moderate trek through four massive stone gateways (Ganesh, Narayan, Hanuman, and Maha Darwaja). At the top, the 'Vinchu Kata' (Scorpion's Tail) ridge offers a thrilling walk. The fort is incredibly green during monsoons, with clouds literally passing through the gates.

- The steps can be slippery when wet; wear shoes with good grip.
- Carry plenty of water and salt-heavy snacks.
Exploring Lohagad Fort
Strategic Heritage
The fort was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1648 and later used to house the treasury of Nana Phadnavis.
It is connected to the Visapur Fort by a small range, making it a popular 'twin fort' trek.
How to reach Lohagad Fort
Accessible by local train to Malavli station, followed by a 7 km walk/taxi to the base village (Lohagadwadi).
