The Gwalior Fort is an 8th-century hill fort near Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The fort has been controlled by many different dynasties, including the Tomars, Mughals, Marathas, and the British. Emperor Babur famously described it as 'the pearl in the necklace of the forts of Hind'.
The fort complex occupies a massive sandstone plateau and houses several historic monuments including the Man Mandir Palace, Teli Ka Mandir, and the Saas Bahu temples. Its walls are adorned with beautiful yellow, green, and blue tile-work featuring ducks, elephants, and peacocks.
