More About Red Fort
Commissioned by Shah Jahan in 1638 when he decided to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi, the Lal Qila (Red Fort) is named for its high-walled red sandstone fortifications. It represents the zenith of Mughal creativity and is a fusion of Persian, Timurid, and Indian architectural styles.
The fort complex contains several museums showcasing weapons, artifacts from the First War of Independence, and royal treasures. The Hayat Bakhsh Bagh (Life-bestowing Garden) and the Moti Masjid are other essential highlights within the 254-acre complex.
