Nestled on the foothills of Western Ghats, Padmanabhapuram Palace is a 16th Century architectural marvel and was the erstwhile capital of the Travancore rulers.

Located at Thuckalay, Padmanabhapuram Palace was the erstwhile capital of the Princely State of Travancore. Though the palace is situated in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, it is maintained and administered by the Government of Kerala. It is a stunning example of the Tachu Shastra (science of carpentry).
The palace complex is divided into several sections, including the Mantrasala (King's Council Chamber), the Poomukham (Entry Hall), and the Thai Kottaram (Mother's Palace), which is the oldest part of the structure. Each room tells a story of the royal lifestyle through ancient furniture, Chinese jars, and spectacular ceiling carvings.
