A steep and challenging trek that takes about five hours from Kasol through rhododendron forests with fine Himalayan views.
What To Expect?
A strenuous but rewarding uphill climb. Expect to walk through dense rhododendron and oak forests, witness stunning views of the Pin Parvati and Sar Pass ranges, and discover the secluded village of Rashol where time seems to stand still. The air is crisp, and the village atmosphere is authentic and untouched by heavy commercialization.
Tips
- Carry at least 2 litres of water and some high-energy snacks as the climb is steep.
- Wear proper trekking boots with ankle support to navigate the rocky and uneven forest path.
- Do not touch the walls of the temples or the houses in the village unless permitted; you may be fined by the village council.
- Carry enough cash as there are no ATMs in Rashol and digital network can be patchy.
- Start your descent latest by 4:00 PM to ensure you reach Chalal/Kasol before the forest gets dark.

Magic Rashol is an offbeat trekking destination situated at an altitude of approximately 2,590 metres. The trek starts from Kasol and passes through Chalal village before ascending sharply into the mountains. It is known for its mystical vibe and the 'Magic' prefix, often attributed to the high-quality local produce and the serene isolation of the village.
The path is dotted with small tea stalls where trekkers can catch their breath while looking over the valley. Once you reach the top, you are greeted by traditional wooden houses and a stone-paved village that shares cultural similarities with Malana, including a strict code of conduct for outsiders regarding physical contact with local structures.

How to reach Magic Rashol
The trek begins from the Kasol market area. Cross the bridge to Chalal village and follow the uphill trail markers towards Rashol. It is a strictly pedestrian route and cannot be reached by vehicle.
